You need an expander to attach your forks to your Ahead stem if you have a carbon steerer on your forks. It takes the place of the star-nut you find on traditional alloy and steel fork steerer columns.

PLEASE NOTE: Unlike Steel and Alloy steers the internal diameter of carbon steerers varies considerably from brand to brand and many expanders will not fit certain brands of forks. We were very bothered by this - poorly secured steerers compromise both performance and safety.
This expander was selected specifically as the best fitting for our forks and a range of others we tried.
