This session includes our core Total Bike Fitting (for up to 2 bikes) PLUS our SpinScan Pedalling Analysis module. This extra element adds approximately one hour to the entire session. You should allow 3 to 3.5 hours for the entire session.
As part of our Cycling Dynamics Service we now offering all our customers access to the amazing insights enabled by our real-time pedal motion scanning systems . These pro level systems allow you to ride on your own bike in our fitting room and to actually see the forces you are generating throughout the pedalling cycle. These systems can be used to determine:
(1) Your absolute and relative power in realtime - as your position on the bike changes. For Example: Does your aero position actually benefit you in performance terms or does what you gain in aerodynamics get wiped out because your aero position reduces your pedalling power and efficiency! Get it right and your aero position does not need to cost you power and it might even be able to increase it - So if you're looking for those elusive "Free Watts" ; We can tell you if they're there !!!
.
(2) Areas of weakness in your pedal stroke. Spinscan provides an accurate picture of your current pedaling pattern/force production, identifying “dead spots” in your pedal stroke where optimal power is not transferred to the drive train. It's so powerful and sensitive that it can also reveal any strength disparity between left and right legs and help you understand how to correct this. In short it can improve your efficiency by 10-15% in one session . This is hard scientific methodology and technology at work!
The technology we use is Computrainer Pro's SpinScan. This is extremely powerful and accessible and features an array of user friendly display screens that break down your cycling action into left/right leg percentage power splits and give you the feedback needed to pedal in "circles". Spinscan can reveal so much you never knew about your pedalling - its a great way of identifying training needs or indeed identifying whether you might need the help of a physio or other specialist - for example if you have significant leg power differentials.

The multi-color torque graph represents one full pedal stroke divided into 15 degree segments. The left/right leg percentage power splits give you the feedback needed to pedal in "circles". It will identify "flat" or "dead" spots in the pedal stroke where optimal power is not transferred to the drive train. An inefficient pedal stroke has sharp peaks and deep valleys as seen in the first graph. With training, SpinScan can help improve your pedal stroke so that you are effectively applying force to the pedals throughout the pedal stroke. See second graph above.

Case Study
John is a club rider of 10 years. The graph below demonstrates clearly just how poor some pedal strokes can be! Whats more you just don't know how good your stroke is without this equipment. Thats quite simply because cyclign happens in stereo and each leg can mask the effectiveness of the other by overcompensating. John thought he had a decent pedalling action until he saw this! (sorry John!) The good news is that we helped him get from A to B in under an hour and he left us with a clear plan of what he needed to do to sustain this improvement
